I came accross this whilst browsing through artists on Fab Channel and was impressed by DTL’s use of ableton.
I also like the fact that he’s using a mic to sing where most people would use sample’s.
Check it out.
From Wire To The Ear.
I was going to post up a guide on how i personally use my uc33e with ableton but i got half way through writing my article and realised it was more or less repeating whats already in Condra’s tutorial on the ‘ableton live dj forum‘ so i thought id just scrap mine and point a link to his.
There is also a number of other handy tutorials over there that are a really good read, so head over to the forum and check it out!
‘Just Add Music’ is third party software that lets you add video to your audio clips in ableton.
This means that you will be able to dj and vj at the same time.
At £100 for the software and then another £500 upwards for a projector, its not a cheap game to get into but im sure the coolness factor of being able to have videos relating to the music your playing on a screen behind you would be impressive!!
Check out some videos of the program after the jump.
I found this a while ago but i thought id share for all you that may not have seen it yet.
Its a video from a guy that has re-created a chunk of ‘Daft Punks - Alive’ set in Ableton.
Pretty impressive stuff.
Video’s after the jump.
*** Edit ***
Riotschool noticed that in the last image, ive left the track at 250bpm… Ive no idea how this happened.
I think i must have hit the ‘:2 / *2′ buttons by mistake before taking the screen shot… oh well!
Just to get things going on the site, i thought id start off with a basic tutorial on warping tracks inside ableton.
If your new to ableton / warping, it basically means that if you are mixing two songs together they will beatmatch perfectly and be in sync with each other no matter what tempo your at.
This means you will be able to concentrate on being more creative with your mixes instead of focusing on beatmatching.
On with the tutorial.
Love Ableton was set-up to provide Ableton users, Dj’s and Music Producers a place to find resources, tutorials and lots of other great info in the one spot.
Hope you all like the site and stick around while it grows.
Cheers,
LA.
